It is Lent, and thus as we prepare for Easter again, it is time to make Pysanky Eggs. Traditionally, these eggs are decorated with all the love, hopes and prayers for another person, and then given to them. Come join others, and learn to do this beautiful Lenten and Easter craft: Saturday April 9 (2-5pm). This is a virtual gather. The link is: meet.google.com/fri-adjq-dnb As I understand it, open you Google account, ask it for Google meets, and type in the code to join this meeting. If it does not work, text me at 540-809-6404.
Listed in the link below, please find the history of this amazing tradition, as well as instruction on how to properly blow an egg, or find instructions in the packets on the table in the Narthex. Have your dyes (yellow, orange, red and black at least) made and cooled. Have a candle and way to light it. And have blown or raw eggs. Please see the following link I have provided instructions, and there are videos on line.
LINKS WITH INSTRUCTIONS:
In the Summit Presbyterian Church Narthex will be a basket of Pysanky egg decorating kits (which include a set of dyes, wax, a kistka, and a sheet of directions), packs of dyes (for those who got the kit last year and already have the kistkas, wax and directions), a few extra kistkas (for those who have more than 1 person doing eggs at a time), and directions for blowing eggs.
For those who are virtual and wish to join us for the virtual Pysanky gathering, but are not able to get to the Church to pick up a kit or the dyes, I order my supplies from The Ukrainian Gift Shop in MN. their website is: www.ukrainiangiftshop.com
